Nearly five decades of innovation in geomembrane engineering, serving critical infrastructure projects across 90+ countries.
Solmax was founded in Québec, Canada with a single mission: to produce geosynthetic liner materials capable of protecting the world's water, soil, and ecosystems from industrial contamination. Over the following decades, we expanded our manufacturing capabilities across North America, Europe, and South America, developing proprietary HDPE formulations that established new benchmarks for chemical resistance and durability.
Today, Solmax is recognized as one of the world's largest manufacturers of polyethylene geomembranes. Our production capacity exceeds 400 million square metres per year, serving major mining companies, municipal governments, water authorities, and engineering consultancies across six continents.
What sets Solmax apart is not simply scale — it is the depth of application engineering knowledge embedded in every product recommendation and every technical data sheet we publish. When a geotechnical engineer in Chile or a water authority in Kenya calls our technical line, they reach an engineer who understands both the product chemistry and the field conditions that determine long-term liner performance.
Proprietary polymer formulations and continuous R&D yield geomembranes that exceed GRI-GM13 benchmarks in tensile strength, OIT, and puncture resistance. We publish test data, not marketing claims.
Geosynthetic liners replace clay and concrete alternatives with a fraction of the carbon footprint. ISO 14001:2015 certified manufacturing and GRI-aligned reporting demonstrate our commitment to measurable progress.
With stocking locations on five continents, Solmax can deliver standard products to port within 2–6 weeks. Local technical representatives provide on-site installation guidance and CQA coordination.
Our R&D teams in North America and Europe continuously advance formulations for UV resistance, stress crack resistance, and chemical compatibility with novel leachate compositions in mining and industrial applications.
